Course and Community Manager
lead the expansion of the UK's leading community of FinOps professionals
Hi, we’re RORA 👋
We build exceptional teams of operational experts who help startups and scaleups to grow.
We’re hiring a Course & Community Manager to revive and grow two core initiatives at the heart of RORA’s mission: the FinOps Academy and the FinOps Forum. This role offers exciting variety and challenge as you’ll lead two distinct projects: cultivating a thriving community and developing an innovative edtech platform. This role might suit an existing Community or Events manager, a Course Manager from the EdTech space or a recent grad who has experience in one of these areas and the drive to tackle both. The role has a clear and exciting progression pathway into Partnerships, Brand Marketing or Growth Leadership roles.
the original vision
The FinOps Academy was created by our founder Dan as the gateway for finance professionals (including RORA’s own team) to launch dynamic careers as specialists in FinOps. It connects learners to a community of peers, equipping them with practical skills, knowledge and real-world insights to thrive in the world of startups.
Complementing the Academy, the FinOps Forum is a place for Finance or Operational Leaders and Founders to network, learn and grow. Both initiatives are deeply tied to RORA’s mission to leave the world a better place: by improving career prospects for accountants, enabling meaningful connections, and empowering founders to achieve their dreams. Your role is important in leading these impactful programmes, advancing our mission while strengthening RORA’s brand and supporting our growth.
the role involves
- facilitating courses and hosting events such as FinOps Academy sessions, community roundtables and our flagship events
- nurturing connections by onboarding new members, coordinating mentor matching, and fostering a thriving, supportive community.
- marketing and comms to promote RORA (and our events) which includes putting together standout visual collateral that's eye catching.
- strategy, data-informed development and impact - we’ve only scratched the surface of what’s possible for the Academy and Forum - both need a long-term strategy in place and data-driven commercial metrics defined to align with RORA’s growth.
you'll have
- Transferable experience related to managing a community or educational programme
- Experience of working in a small and dynamic team (ideally a startup) where you’ve worn many hats
- Great communication and interpersonal skills both online and offline: you're someone who's truly energised by people and big groups
- Knowledge of finance and startups is desirable but not essential
In addition you’ll resonate strongly with the following traits:
organised; strategic; relationship-builder; self-motivated; interested in Finance

meet RORA
RORA connects Ops experts with startups and scaleups that need help. Our people split their time between some of the coolest startups around (ManyPets, Anthropic and Zilch to name a few) on a fractional basis. We also come together every week as a team to learn, grow and have fun. Over the past five years we’ve built a great business in FinOps (and more recently in PeopleOps) - reinventing how startups do finance teams and supporting hundreds of founders in the process.
